Description
The image shows is a man and woman dreaming about the expulsion from the Garden of Eden. The creature they are dreaming of is a Cherubim holding the flaming sword.. also the serpent. The Cherubim probably isnt recognisable as an angel but I based it loosely on a description that appears later in the bible (by Ezekiel, I think.) It is said that this type of angel has the face of a man, a lion, a bull and an eagle.Done in Illustrator

I was a little worried that the contrast between the (peaceful) sleeping people and the (possibly disturbing) angel might be a little too much. Glad it is working in spite of that.
And, of course, I am glad ya'all like it visually too! I tried a number of new things with this piece.. and I think they worked very well. Helped me get the lighting right, etc. Even though it took every bit of RAM in my machine to get it to work
Thanks for the encouragement

THis piece is 100% vector. There are a lot of raster effects in Illustrator now that I used a on a lot of the shapes for effect.. I have a copy of Painter and a Wacom but I cannot get into using it for painting. Just sketching, really. Even when I oil paint I do it in a similar way to Illustrator.. One shape at a time. Slower, probably, but it suits me
I saw your illustration of Bowie, Artoonator, and it is very nice. I really like the feeling of it. He is one of my very favorite musicians. I have nearly every album that wasn't done in the '80s (I kind of skip that although I guess I have Let's Dance. Prefer Ziggy and the Spiders or the Outside stuff especially). Your image captures him very well. And I really like the colors (cannot get enough color!) and texture.
There is a bit of symbolism in my picture but probably nothing all that concrete.. other than what is in the story. Or maybe it is just hard for me to talk about what I see in my own images. I usually will just pick a story to illustrate because it inspires me. The expulsion is inspiring to me, not because it is religious (not much of a religious fellow myself), but because I think the story is a metaphor for loss of innocence and growing up. Something every person goes through. It also has a Cherubim and they are very cool creatures
